Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM),a leading educators of primary care physicians, biomedical scientists, and public health professionals, announced that it has introduced online programmes for students who can earn degrees or a certificate remotely, choosing from among an Executive Master of Public Health (eMPH), Hybrid Master of Science in Biomedical Technology and a certificate in the Process of Drug Development, all now available online.
The eMPH, an innovative 18-month programme focused on community health policy and leadership that supports MSM’s social mission, is intended for working professionals with a bachelor’s degree. The course is conducted predominantly online, requiring only one campus visit.
The Hybrid Master of Science in Biomedical Technology requires 39 credit hours and may be completed entirely online. The programme develops students' technical knowledge in biomedical research methods. An apprenticeship is also required.
The Process of Drug Development Certificate provides students insight into the drug discovery and development process and helps them advance in their careers. The courses are 100 per cent online and available on demand, enabling students to study at their own pace.
"Students are allowed the freedom of learning without the limitations of geographical location or time. Furthermore, online learning will allow students to access the rigorous education MSM has traditionally provided on campus," said Martha Elks, M.D., Ph.D., senior associate dean of Educational Affairs. "MSM's mission and efforts to advance health equity will be integrated throughout the curriculum, ensuring that students graduate having the same knowledge base as a traditional student."
According to an official press release from MSM, applications opened from February 1 and the classes will begin in fall 2018. All courses are pending SACSCOC approval. For more information, visit: www.msm.edu/online.
