Description

  • The response to the business model is positive and there is a huge acceptance. The technology-driven healthcare platform offers simple, efficient and high quality remote consultations to patients. Several corporate houses have evinced interest too, Abhishek Dwivedi, co-founder & CEO, Alternacare told Pharmabiz in an email interaction.
  • The five medical conditions frequently consulted on the AlternaCare platform are gastrointestinal, neurology, endocrine, skin and renal care besides psychiatric conditions to tackle depression, stress, among others, he added.
  • Indian healthcare market is highly fragmented and underserved in many areas. It is here that the digital healthcare companies are the enablers to grow this market even further. An instant connectivity to the doctor is possible by merely dialling ‘888-26-444-44’. Post consultation, patients will receive the medication details and dosages over the SMS with an e-prescription link. Going by the patient convenience and acceptability, we will look to raise more funds going by the current market opportunity, he said.
  • Angel and seed funding for telemedicine start-ups is favourable. Many start-ups focused on remote doctor-patient communication have also managed to Pre Series A and Series A from the investors. This trend will continue because it adds considerable value to  doctor-patient connectivity attracting VC support in the coming years.
  • Moreover the young doctors are the early adopters of digital technology. Those doctors with an established medical practice have accepted remote instant medical consultations model of care. There is considerable traction from tier 2/3 towns because of lack of access to affordable quality healthcare.
